PFPC Responds to Miss Toronto Tourism Pageant

We at the Pagan Federation/ Fédération Païenne Canada wish to respond in
the matter of the Miss Toronto Tourism Pageant’s actions to dismiss a
judge for religious reasons.

Through their participation and acceptance of the rejection letter to Ms.
Conover, each Board member of the Miss Toronto Tourism Pageant has
overstepped the bounds of propriety and principles, as defined by the
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Ontario Civil Rights Code
as well as the pageant's own qualification and criteria list.

The outrageous behaviour of the Miss Toronto Tourism Pageant's Board is
unacceptable and discriminatory. Its claim to support multiculturalism is
obviously a fraud as exemplified by their attempts to blur the lines
between church and state.

If there is one redeeming quality to the Miss Toronto Tourism Board's
actions it is that, whether through courage or ignorance, their prejudice
is open and public rather than hidden behind an all too familiar and
deceptive mask of civility usually worn by those who discriminate.
